SAINT HONORE

It's Saint Honore day today which is the Patron Saint of Bakers so you can buy this cake today which is traditionally made by the bakers here in France.  Only problem is our bakery is closed because they went on holiday.  Too much cream for me anyway but the little bakery which Manu visited yesterday were giving away little breads to celebrate.

These are wholewheat, some with hazelnuts, some with chestnuts and some with Walnuts, absolutely forbidden on my diet but could absolutely not stop myself.

So Manu was working Sunday and I decided to kick of the day with waffles.  I love waffles and have posted this recipe on the pages side,  they are Belgian and crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Of course my boys ate them hot smothered with Nuttella.  After that I went on a cooking spree. The weather turned nasty so it was a good day to get some stuff done.  I made bread with Benjamin from Nigella, these little dinner rolls are divine but with our cold weather I had to leave them next to the fire and they took twice as long to prove but it was worth it in the end.

Then we had a play date who insisted on making a cake so out came all the ingredients for a marbled chocolate cake.  They got carried away and threw in some blue icing for good measure.  They weren't bad though and disappeared quiet quickly.

....and guess who cleaned up the mess?
