LONELY

It happened when I wasn't concentrating but I suddenly realized how lonely it is living out here.  By out here it sounds like I'm in a lighthouse on an island somewhere, not quiet, more like a ski station where no one speaks English.  Whilst my French is ok and everyone understands me most of the time I still don't feel comfortable speaking it so I have decided to take some advise from my friend Vero who visited in April.  I am watching more French TV and speaking to Manu in French.  Then I asked Samuel to translate something for me today and he did it perfectly so another vice to add to my repertoire.

I walk often and this week whilst I was sitting in the sunshine taking in the river I realized whilst I was lonely I love the beauty of this place.  It really takes your breath away which is surprising because there is no beautiful beach or Chapman’s peak to take in but just being able to walk safely through the woods on your own, or listen to the cow bells in the surrounding fields is lovely.

My friend Heather who moved to the States at the same time I moved here told me to be pro active today.  So I am.  I will make an effort to invite someone for tea.  That's my mission for the week.  Watch this space!!!!!!!
