PISS IN THE BED JAM

This has been the weather daily in Praz, it's lovely and warm and suddenly rain clouds out of nowhere, but the French farming community is in crisis because of lack of rain, they are all on rations and most of them loosing crops daily.  See how we rely on nature in the end and none of the super powers can change that.

We spent a quiet weekend at home enjoying our surroundings, it's so pretty here in Praz and now that all the flowers are out I can't stop myself from walking and picking.

Our woods a little drive up the road

Dandelions

Fraise de Bois - I first tasted these in the Pyrennees, it was Manu's dad who was eating his way down the path and when I enquired as to what he was munching on he reluctantly shared his findings with me.  A more delicious strawberry you won't taste, it's tiny but perfumed in flavour, this is not ripe and will only be ready end of July.  I have marked the spot where we found the bushes, it remains to
be seen if the locals beat me to it.

So the French pride themselves on eating everything, alive or dead, commercial or wild, so I decided to try my hand at Dandelion Jam or as they call it Pisenlit.  Which litterally translated means Piss in your bed.  Dandelion tea is popular here with dieters as it causes you to wee all day hence the name.  So Manu and I went off and picked two cups of Dandelion petals.  Do not be fooled it takes alot of Dandelion petals to make a cup.  Benjamin then helped me part the petals from the bitter green stems.  1 Hour, 4 yellow hands, and 5 very put out bugs later, we had completed the job.  Here you buy pectin sugar so the task was easy and I had some for breakfast on bread. Absolutely delicious I might add.
