A blog to enable you to follow our daily lives in the Alps, France. Manu - the French Papa, Jude - the South African Mommy, Samuel - 9 years, super sensitive, caring and loving and Benjamin - 6 years, a breath of fresh air, answers to the nickname Hiroshima.
CHOCOLATE BREAD n' BUTTER PUD
Benjamin making his favourite pud.
If you don't live in France chances of having a freezer full of stale Pain au Chocolat is rare so use stale French loaf or Foccacia.
One stale loaf
Cup of Chocolate Chips
Cup of Milk
3 Eggs
Half a cup of cream
Brown Sugar
Butter
Slice the loaf up to 1cm thick
Butter an oven proof casserole dish
Layer the bread on the bottom so no slices are overlapping
Sprinkle a little of the chocolate chips over
Dot with butter
Sprinkle over Brown Sugar
Place another layer of bread slices on top
Sprinkle over the chocolate chips, sugar and dot with butter
I do Three layers.
Beat together the eggs, milk and cream
Pour over the pudding and let it seep in for about 20minutes.
If the pudding is looking dry pour a little extra milk over or cream if not on a diet
Bake for 25minutes on 180C
Keeps for up to 4 days in the fridge - if you can keep the family away that long.
Best eaten warm with ice cream, cream or my favourite custard.
