-15C

Yip -15C this morning.  Not sure if I want to walk the boys to school today.  The snow has just fallen and fallen this week.  I've learnt all sorts of things - wash your car once a week as the salt on the road damages it, take the hubcaps off as the salt in the road damages it, walk on the snow because everything else is ice, don't pass a snow plough on the road - you'll get a fine etc etc.  These guys who drive these ploughs are amazing.  They work from 3am, I know because they wake me up, it's freezing and they just work.  On the down side they often park our car in because the snow gets dumped behind the cars in the parking lot but they are cool.

I love watching the moms take the kids to school on a luge.  They just pull them on a plastic sledge it all looks so fifties.  The kids keep nagging me to do the same but pulling two kids - both 20kg's now, with a broken shoulder is not my idea of fun.

Well I've been here almost 4 months as my friend - Heather - reminded me on her blog - luvlyjubblyinamerica - as we both moved at the same time, but she's in Connecticut.  I love catching up with her on skype as we have the same difficulties and fun too.

The downside of living here is the back biting that goes on between the locals and not so locals concerning work.  It seems everyone works for a chalet -they either manage it, rent it or service it.  I was warned twice in two days not to talk to anyone incase that someone finds out that they are making more money in the chalet business.  It's all about the bottom line.  So two days of being really down and not talking to anyone I've decided STUFF THEM.  As Heather says - go big or go home.  I am here to make friends so I intend making friends.  Insecure the lot of them.  I do have some nice, MATURE, secure friends though and chalet conversation never enters the scenario.

Yesterday I went with Manu to buy some winter wear for him.  I was astounded by the amount people spend on skiing equipment.  This is an expensive sport.  Think I'll stay at the bar and watch this winter.
