We finally did Ben's birthday party when Manu came back. I invited a few of his friends and we headed off to the river to have some fun in the sun. Great place for it too because I didn't have to provide any games just lots of sweeties.
The adults watching all the river magic under the trees.
Then we headed back home for cake. I just opted for a number 6 this year but made the inside a little different. It looked like play dough, hysterical watching the kids faces when I cut it up.
A blog to enable you to follow our daily lives in the Alps, France. Manu - the French Papa, Jude - the South African Mommy, Samuel - 9 years, super sensitive, caring and loving and Benjamin - 6 years, a breath of fresh air, answers to the nickname Hiroshima.

TRAMWAY MONT BLANC
Well been busy, with the return of Samuel by his Grandparents from Brittany and they stayed for a week to see Manu's return on Wednesday. Manu came home after 6 months away in Miami working for his family there. Well he came home for 2 weeks in May but it went so quickly it felt like he wasn't even here. Anyway life back to semi-normal, Manu's parents leave today and my parents next week. It's been extra hot here too so lots of lazy days by lakes, rivers and swimming pools.
Last week we took Benjamin to enjoy the free games in Sallanches. All made from wood.

Ben on a little ride
My dad loves trains, so I thought for his birthday coming up I would treat him to a train ride with a difference. He in turn treated the kids so off they set 1000 meters ups to the base of Mont Blanc in Chamonix on the Tramway.
It is stationed in La Fayet about 30min from us

BENJAMIN TURNS 6
Well with Sammy away and Manu away we celebrated Benjamin's quietly but in a fun style as is the way in the Guillet family. We went to Lake Passy where I promised Benjamin he could do Acrobranch. A great little exercise involving lots of nerve where the kids are connected to a zip wire and then walk through the trees. Great fun.
First of all lots of pressies of course
Picnic and footie with Grandad
The start
The end
A quick ride through the woods
And then ....................Happy Birthday to you....................

MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL
That time of year again and Praz did themselves proud, pity about the rain because a lot of the events were rained off. Never-the-less a great weekend.
My little knight in shining armour
Benjamin trying his hand at archery
The parade
One of the medieval villages set up in a field complete with open fire and bread making etc
The school entrance was transformed
Benjamin's new shield
Dying in the school yard - uuuggghhhh
This has nothing to do with the medieval festival but was made by all the children in Sammy's school. Each child did a piece and then it was put back together to form a world and hung outside the tourism office. I think it's beautiful. Not very clear but each piece has a little design done by each child, Samuel's is a sun. The pieces were then individually fired by a local artist.
