AT THE ALTIPORT

Megeve's answer to an airport, but it was such a beautiful day we went driving around looking at mountains, snow and airplanes.  That's what happens when you have boys.................

FIRST SNOW

Well whatdyaknow there's snow on the mountain and even the locals are surprised.  I was thrilled to see at least two other moms with beanies and scarves today.  Here's the pic from my dining room window.

SUNDAY

Spent the day without Manu and took the kids to the river, it was so cold but we managed an hour outside, and got in just before the rain commenced.

Autumn has definately settled in and I can't wait for all the trees to change colour, everyone says how pretty it is.
As you can see everyone is stock piling their wood.  We need to find a supplier ready for the winter.....

Spent the rest of the day drinking Vin Chaud and sorting out my winter cupboard with thanks to Manu's employer as I got all the tins - for wine glasses, one per tin, think the packaging costs more than the glass, still makes for great scarf container.......

................ and for dinner Boudin Noir, or black pudding as the South African's know it, except here you eat is as a main dish with Apple Compote, it's delicious and usually made fresh from the farm stuffed with Apples, Nuts or spices.

MMMMmmmm Bon Appetit

SUNDAY BREAKFAST

A breakfast for Champions, yum.  These of course from the top baker in France, situated in Megeve and which are 5 times more expensive than the baker in Praz, so that is why Manu brings home the left overs from work – I’m not proud.  YUM>

Rainy Autumn days look like they’re here to stay.  Nothing much happening this weekend, nice and quiet having all the visitors left, Manu working and finishes at 5pm tonight.  We never see him when he works he leaves at 6 am and comes back at around 11 pm.  Still he has two weeks off after this so not complaining.

Can’t wait for the ship to arrive this week, it will definately keep me busy.

BUSY WEEK

MOUNT BLANC

It's been a busy couple of days with Manu's family staying.  His folks go today and Claire and Julien jet of to Oz tomorrow so all quiet on the Western Front.  Manu is working this weekend.  He looks so smart in his chefs all black of course and yes he shaves, never bothers for his wife, but Mr Levy hahaha.  Weather turning tomorrow and a week of rain in store.  Samuel is bombing around on his new bycicle and you can't stop him, he loves it.  Benjamin just runs behind and seems to be slimming down by the day.  Other news - broken my shoulder in two places, well did it in SA and couldn't understand why I've been in pain for six weeks.  So now it's strapped up and physio starts next week.  The doctor here is lovely and also impressed I withstood the pain for so long - I'm a tough cookie I tell you.  Well gotta clean, one arm only, not sure how good a job I'll do.

PARENTS EVENING

Last night we attended Samuel's school to see where he sat, what he learned etc etc.  So three teachers (including the principal) three classes, 70 kids.   And that's the school.  Very nice, organised and strict.  This is Sammy's class.

Saint Nicolas-de-Veroce

So off we went by car to explore today and landed up at Saint Nicolas-de-Veroce, the entire village was at the Mayors house celebrating their 100 year old resident, and then it was off to the restaurant - Village life in the mountains.  Situated right under Mount Blanc, just beautiful and I loved that the Post Office doubled as the Pattiserie, the Pizzeria and the Ski Shop in winter.
